Harrogate G&S Society bring Iolanthe to Knaresborough
The Knaresborough Lions are delighted to work in partnership with the Harrogate Gilbert and Sullivan Society and to welcome them to perform in Knaresborough for the very first time. The Harrogate G&S Society are using their production of comic opera Iolanthe as an opportunity to publicise the Knaresborough Lions and will be kindly supporting the work of the Lions with a collection after each performance. The Knaresborough Lions in turn are helping to spread the word about what promises to be a magical show.
The performances will be at the Frazer Theatre on Thursday 9th May to Saturday 11th May at 7.30pm, plus a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday 11th.
A spellbinding musical fantasy, Iolanthe is Gilbert & Sullivan at their sublime and satirical best. The world of politics and the world of fairy-tales collide in this irreverent send-up of the House of Lords, set to some of the most beautiful music ever written by Sir Arthur Sullivan. The experienced cast includes former Welsh National Opera Tenor, Donald Stephenson, as Lord Mountarrarat.
Appropriately, there is a mention of a lion in the lyrics – come along to the performance and see if you can spot it! The Harrogate G&S Society and the Knaresborough Lions look forward to welcoming you.
Tickets cost £12 and are available online at http://www.frazertheatre.co.uk/events/event/harrogate-gilbert-sullivan-society-iolanthe/ (£1.20 booking fee applies), or at Pear Records on Knaresborough High Street (no booking fee).
