Helping the Community

The Lions Club of Knaresborough was formed in 1987 to serve our community and over the last 30 years we have done this in many ways. Of the funds we raise through our events and activities, including the legendary Great Knaresborough Bed Race and the Lions Beer Festival at feva, we aim to spend at least 80% locally. This involves directly helping individuals and families at times of particular need, and supporting local good causes, charities and clubs. The remaining funds are used to support international causes such as the Measles and Rubella Initiative, Sightsavers and various others, often through the Lions Club International Fund (LCIF). Every penny of the funds we raise is passed on to local and international causes; all administrative costs are paid for by the Lions themselves.

Lions also volunteer as marshals at community events, and you will often see us in our reflective tabards helping at events such as the Knaresborough Nativity and last year’s Bright Friday event.
