Wednesday Market Day
For seven hundred years a market has been held on Wednesday in the Market Square of Knaresborough. Actually, for even longer as it was in existence before the charter granted by Edward II in 1310!
The market is well worth a visit if you’re in Knaresborough on Wednesday – go and grab yourself a bargain!. It runs from 8.30am to 4pm every Wednesday.
I use the market at least once every other week, whilst many many locals visit weekly without fail. The fruit and veg is excellent, there are tempting cake and bread stalls and I never pass the central grocery stall without grabbing a packet of my favourite chocolate-coated biscuits. There’s a great choice of meats, pies, cheese, garden plants, household materials, shoes, clothing and electrical items – in fact the list is almost literally never-ending. So – whatever you’re looking for, keep your Wednesdays for the market!
